Brad McVie (Vince Vaughn) and Kate (Reese Witherspoon) are a couple that enjoys their holidays. Every year they run from their respective families at Christmas in order to enjoy the holidays in some sunny, luxurious spot. However, things don't go so well for them in 2006 when they are caught at the airport, fogged in and filmed for all of their families to see. Now Brad and Kate are forced to spend time with Brad's dad (Robert Duvall) and Brad's mom (Sissy Spacek) and of course Kate's dad (Jon Voigt) and Kate's mom (Mary Steenburgen). The two view the experience differently with Brad anxious for it to be done, but Kate feeling a growing desire to start her own family. The question is whether the end of the four Christmases will find Brad and Kate together or apart?
